Mata Bond

Inspired by Casino Royale 1967’s Mata Bond, daughter of Mata Hari and Sir James Bond, this concoction embodies that mixture of tradition with the free-spirit of the 60s. I purposely went for glasswear that resembled a lava lamp, but you can drink in whatever.

This is one of seven Martinis I invented after being inspired by the seven James Bonds at the heart of the 1967 Casino Royale.

To make a Mata Bond, place all of the following in a cocktail shaker/mixing glass, half fill with large ice and stir until ice cold:

60ml red vermouth
30ml genever or gin (I used genever because Mata's mother was Dutch)
5ml Maraschino

Strain and serve, garnishing with a sprinkling of poppy seeds (Mata feeds her famous father poppy tea in the film, one of several thinly veiled references to the counterculture of the time)
