Dawn Raid On Fort Knox

I stole this Goldfinger-inspired recipe from Matt at Dryzzle Media in a daring dawn raid. It’s a golden delight, morning, noon or night.

Head to https://app.dryzzlemedia.com/full for the original recipe, which Matt Stokes named Operation Grand Slam.

I settled on the name Dawn Raid On Fort Knox for my variant because it would make a great breakfast cocktail. Okay, I’m basing that on the fact that it has orange liquer in it. And let’s make this clear - a breakfast cocktail is only appropriate on the days you’re NOT at work. Or operating heavy machinery. Or doing anything that requires serious concentration of any description. This is a STRONG drink - have more than one and it’s like being knocked unconscious by Pussy Galore’s Flying Circus.

Drop each of the following into a cocktail shaker with large ice:

60ml Kentucky bourbon (I used Bulleit, my favourite)

30ml orange liquer (I went with Grand Marnier, the original recipe goes with Cointreau, which is slightly sweeter)

30ml red vermouth (Carpano Antica formula if you have it, but whatever you have is fine)

30ml lemon juice

Strain into a glass and garnish with orange peel.

Get pussies in formation for the dawn raid.
